Strand co-lead Dr Katarina Schwarz appointed United Nations (UN) Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of slavery and trafficking in persons
The position has been newly established by the UNHCR through the merger of two longstanding mandates: the Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of slavery, including its causes and consequences, and the Special Rapporteur on trafficking in persons, especially women and children. The new mandate will operate for an initial three-year period beginning in 2026.
